Advancing a global ethical framework for artificial intelligence
Representatives of the Office of Public Affairs of the Bahá’ís in the Emirates participated in a roundtable on 16-17 October 2025 convened by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace which focused on advancing a global ethical framework for artificial intelligence.
During the forum, Sheikh Abdallah Bin Bayyah, Chairman of the UAE Council for Fatwa and President of the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace, emphasized the need to establish a comprehensive framework that unites religious, intellectual, and scientific leaders, along with technical experts and policymakers, to guide the ethical development of AI.
Dr. Roeia Thabet shared the following remarks: “The real question is not whether to choose advanced or simple technology, but how to make technological decisions that foster a civilization that is both materially and spiritually prosperous—one whose benefits reach all of humanity. She added that exploring this question invites us to consider what makes work meaningful, how it connects to each person’s desire to contribute to society, to find purpose in life, to experience dignity, and to serve something greater than oneself.”
