Interfaith Effort to Protect Children’s Rights & Future
The Office of Public Affairs of the Bahá’ís of the UAE, accompanied by a group of Baha’i youth in UAE, participated in the Sixth Forum of the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC) from November 17 to 21, 2024. The forum was also attended by Ms. Bani Dugal, Principal Representative of the Bahá’í International Community to the United Nations, and Mr. Hatem El-Hady, Representative of the Bahá’í International Community, Cairo Office.
The event, organised by Arigatou International and hosted by the Interfaith Alliance for Safer Communities in Abu Dhabi, brought together religious leaders, intellectuals, and experts to address pressing global issues affecting children.
The forum aims to enhance efforts to protect children, uphold their dignity, and find sustainable solutions to these risks while raising awareness among society and policymakers about the urgency of addressing unprecedented challenges faced by children.
Children and youth were given the opportunity to actively participate in these discussions, exploring key concepts that contribute to fostering unique social relationships that reflect the unity and diversity of the human family. Through these discussions, the young participants reflected on their role as active protagonists in contributing to building a better world and on their immense potential and capacities to help build a better world for everyone.
The Abu Dhabi Declaration was unveiled during a ceremony held at Wahat Al Karama, attended by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah, Chairman of the UAE Fatwa Council and President of the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace. The declaration emphasized building a world filled with hope for children and reaffirmed a collective commitment to ensuring every child’s right to a safe and sustainable future.
