On the evening of 28th of November, 1921, ‘Abdu’l-Bahá passed away at 77 years of age. Newspapers conveyed the news of His passing, expressing the tragedy of the loss for humanity. In ‘AlNafeer’ newspaper, published in Haifa, the first page contained only this news with the headline: ‘A terrible tragedy, the passing of the Humanitarian; ‘Abdu’l-Bahá Abbas.’ It continued with: ‘Humankind has been shaken by the passing of the greatest pillar of society and most popular philanthropist, the horizons of the east and west were filled with mention of His work; this most knowledgeable scholar and poplar wise man ‘Abdu’l-Bahá Abbas.
On 30th November, 1921, an article in ‘AlMuqattam’ newspaper was written with the fol-lowing paragraph: ‘.. He was revered by all who had met Him, a majestic and graceful person, of high moral char-acter who was loved and followed by many people… He (may God bless His soul) visited some cities in Europe and North America and was met with veneration. He spoke in gatherings, colleges, institution and churches, He called for peace, harmony and brotherhood, the cessation of wars and to return to the teachings of the Prophets and Messengers.’
