Eradication of extreme poverty and wealth

Currently, the absence of mutually beneficial and harmonious relationships in society and between nations have led to extreme disparities in the living conditions of the people – where some live in extreme wealth while others face severe poverty. This imbalance is a significant contributor to numerous social and political disruptions, which often escalate into wars and conflicts, further exacerbating this imbalance. It is an undeniable right of every human being born on this planet to live a life marked by dignity and well-being.

It is essential for every society to establish laws and enforce them in a manner that prevents a small group of individuals from accumulating excessive wealth while others live in crushing poverty. This approach does not advocate for complete economic equality but aims to eliminate extreme disparities in wealth and the demoralizing poverty that often accompanies it.

The core principle is that divine justice must be reflected in human conditions and affairs. In addressing the foundations of economic systems, ʿAbdu'l-Bahá states: "The foundations of the entire economic structure are divine in nature and are connected with the realms of the heart and spirit." When a person's spiritual nature is aligned, all other aspects of life fall into balance, and they are no longer ruled by materialistic desires that strip them of their virtues.
